University of Idaho housing information

Living in the University of Idaho residence halls is a convenient and once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. It will be an important and exciting component of your college experience.

On-campus housing

All first-year students are required to live on campus, as on-campus living is proven to help you succeed while going to college. Graduate student on-campus housing is also available.

Our beautiful residential halls offer great living options and amenities, including:

  • Fully-furnished bedrooms which include a bed, dresser, desk and chair
  • High-speed Wi-Fi
  • Laundry facilities, study lounges, kitchens located throughout the residence halls
  • Student support services and social activities

How to apply for on-campus housing

Complete the UI housing application form online:

Students will need to pay a $200 security deposit to reserve their rooms.

  • The deposit is returned to the student’s University Account upon successful completion of the terms of the license agreement.
  • Cancellation of the Housing & Residence Life contract will result in forfeit of the deposit.

Graduate student housing

Graduate students may live on or off campus. Visit to learn more about on-campus and off-campus accommodation options. If you plan to live off campus, you must have your housing arranged before arriving in the United States. It is in your best interest to arrange your accommodation as soon as possible, as housing options fill up quickly.

Move-in day and check in

All new international students of any status are required to check in with University of Idaho's International Programs Office by attending New International Student Orientation on August 16-17, 2017. Students are required to attend all days of orientation. 

Short-term housing

To accommodate students who are not able to move into the dorms or apartments during orientation there are several hotels available in the Moscow area. If you would like to stay at ahotel before moving into on-campus housing then please full out the "Reserve Temporary Housing" form in in the Pre-Arrival Checklist. Hotels in the Moscow area include:
