ALCP Intensive English Program

If you do not meet the minimum English language requirements for entry to your desired program at the Global Student Success Program (GSSP), you may wish to enroll in the University of Idaho’s American Language and Culture Program (ALCP). The ALCP will help you improve your English language skills before starting in the GSSP.

The ALCP is an intensive English language program designed to help students develop the skills necessary to succeed in academic programs in the United States or to further their professional careers.

The ALCP offers 18+ hours per week of instruction. Students may begin an eight-week course of study in January, March, May, August or October

In the ALCP you will be eligible to enter the GSPP without any further English tests. Our GSSP staff can assist you with the application process and can help answer any questions you have about English requirements.

Age requirements

UI does not accept students under 16 years of age at the start of the GSSP.

Students between 16 and 17 years of age must have parental/guardian consent to attend the UI GSSP. Application forms must be signed by a parent/guardian.

This school is authorized under federal law to enroll non-immigrant alien students.
